Less is more with the new Rodenstock correction
spectacles
Rodenstock is presenting the latest trends for
ladies and men this summer with a total of 16 new correction
frames. Completely in tune with the principle of "less
is more", discrete patterns and high-quality materials
are at the centre of this collection expansion.
Rodenstock's signature is clearly evident here: an
excellent design combined with the highest expertise in
ophthalmic optics, convincing cost effectiveness, optimum
adaptability and outstanding wearing
comfort.
Exclusive
Materials Using select materials, Rodenstock
is clearly emphasising quality, wearing comfort and an exquisite
look with high-quality titanium and Trogamid®, the finest
Italian acetate and timelessly modern stainless steel.
On the whole, the new collection focuses on
Rodenstock's technical competence – even in the most
minute details. For example, the reduced design of the R 2255
men's spectacles made of pure titanium have side
inserts made of high-quality leather. Titanium, which was
originally used for aerospace technology, is characterised by
its low weight and maximum flexibility. That way, this high-end
material guarantees maximum wearing comfort. Ladies'
models R 2250 and R 2251 combine the benefits of titanium with
high-quality Italian block acetate. This material mix is made by
hand exclusively for Rodenstock, making all spectacles unique.
Stainless steel is another material that Rodenstock is using
this summer. The ladies' frame R 2197 has a reduced
design. Only the sides have intricate decorations in which the
metal is embossed and inlaid with colour. This results in a
refined and simultaneously reserved three-dimensional effect. A
stainless steel top bar dominates the masculine front of
men's model R 2201. The sides are made of multilayer
block acetate and are kept in a purist design. They pick up the
material of the middle section with a metal insert. Two other
models complete the stainless steel line of this collection
expansion. R 2193 and R 2194 are Nylor frames and adorn the
ladies and/or men with strict
elegance.
Flowing Shapes in the
Retro Look In contrast to past years, the
retro trend is playing a less dominant role, although some
effects are still noticeable in a blend of futurism and style
elements of the 50's, and/or 60's. They can
be found in the ladies' frame R 5251 among others,
which is reminiscent of cat eye spectacles of the 50's
with their flowing shape made of high-quality multilayer
acetate. The sides are decorative but not dominant. The pattern
uses a hot pressing process and matches the colour of the middle
section. As with all the spectacles in the expanded collection,
the logo is wrought into the sides in a minimalistic way. The
men's model R 5250 picks up on the cool preppy look.
The spectacles are very convincing with multilayer acetate
worked into two layers in muted earth tones and natural colours.
Reduced Sides
Design One of the characteristic features of
this collection expansion is the tranquil emphasis on details.
This can be seen in particular in the sides, which Rodenstock
designed to be more discrete and reserved this autumn. For
example, the two rimless models R 4796 for ladies and R 4795 for
men toy with different cut-out shapes. The ladies frame is
convincing with gently curved, feminine sides and circular
cut-outs. Here, the fine and decorative pattern was achieved
with the help of a highly complex laser process. The two-colour
design of the inside and outside of the sides is also thrilling.
The implementation of the men's model is also similar,
which is made of an ultralight beta titanium alloy. The graphic
cut-outs in the sides increase the high flexibility of the
material even more. The soft sides have an elaborate double
finishing, which produces interesting effects.
The new models cause gentle excitement
through fine tone-in-tone colours that are rich in detail as
well as through interesting matt-shiny contrasts. The timeless
world of colours encompasses classical autumn colours like
brown, mauve or burgundy. The new correction frames
can be ordered from Rodenstock as of August 2011.
