Rodenstock has always stood for first-class
products and individual service – but also for the good things.
Together with the aid organisation Eye Care Mission e.V. and
ophthalmic optics students from Berlin, the Munich spectacles
manufacturer has donated sunglasses and lenses for Cambodia
thereby giving several hundred people their vision back, true to
the motto of "See
better".
Together for a good
cause The Eye Care Mission e.V. organisation
has worked for many years already, providing ophthalmic optics
care to the people of Cambodia. The people there are still
suffering from the effects of the gruesome reign of terror of
the Khmer Rouge who murdered anyone wearing spectacles as
possible intellectuals. The poor rural population in particular
still has hardly any chance of getting medial or ophthalmic
care. This is reason enough for Eye Care Mission e.V. to stand
up against preventable blindness and to provide local aid. Among
others, students who are studying optometry at the Technical
University of Berlin are active in the organisation. They,
together with Rodenstock, have distributed several hundred
sunglasses and lenses valued at several thousand Euros to
children and adults in
Cambodia.
Spectacles for a good
purpose Rodenstock provided the frames and
lenses free of charge, and everything was in the well-known
Rodenstock quality. Under the direction of the Eye Care Mission
e.V. aid organisation, the Berlin students donated the work
onsite including refraction, screenings, grinding the lenses and
fitting the spectacles. In addition, the students trained the
staff of the eye clinic in the province of Takeo so that they
are able to take care of their patients professionally in the
future. Jürgen Pupke of Eye Care Mission e.V and his
employees are happy about the successful campaign:
"Together with our partner Rodenstock, we were able to
contribute our expertise to decisively improve the quality of
life of many people. The generous donation of material from
Rodenstock was what made this project possible."
