The Sun in Focus
Rodenstock is once again skilfully setting the
scene for the trends in the 2011 summer season with the new
sunglasses collection for ladies and men. Subtle elegance,
discrete patterns and high-quality materials are combined into
an all-round successful collection. Here, the hallmarks of
Rodenstock are also clearly evident: an excellent design
combined with the highest ophthalmic optics competence
recognisable by the high-quality sun protection lenses with the
Rodenstock quality engraving, glazing for all models, convincing
cost-effectiveness, optimum adaptability, and outstanding
wearing comfort.
Less is more:
Sunglasses for ladies This season,
Rodenstock is setting a quieter tone and is leaving behind the
XXL trend that was in style up to last season, especially for
ladies' sunglasses. Suitability for everyday use
combined with a clear design and refined details comprise the
motto for the new collection. The colour design of the
sunglasses has also clearly turned out to be more discrete than
in past years. Hence, the most exquisite Italian acetate in
different classical colours gives the models an unmistakeable
stylistic confidence. It is quite conspicuous that the retro
trend is slipping more and more into the background. However,
individual effects are being maintained, which is particularly
thrilling in combination with futuristic elements. For example,
model R 3235 is reminiscent of the cat eye spectacles of the
1950s, but still has a very modern effect thanks to an exciting
material mix of high-quality acetate and
metal.
Extravagantly wrought sides made of
multilayer acetate where a three dimensional pattern is inserted
into the middle layer are the feature of sunglasses R 3238. In
combination with mother-of-pearl effects and the fresh colours
of the acetate, this processing technique provides a thrilling
flair. Model R 3239 has further developed the
decorative elements on the sides, although the
three-dimensionality of the decoration is more subtle than
before. On the whole, the quiet emphasis of details is one of
the characteristic features of this collection. This can also be
seen in model R 3240 in which the patterns on the front and
sides provide discrete highlights. The graduated colouring of
the lenses is also reserved. Delicate earthy or pastel colours
are used in these classical, feminine sunglasses, which are
typical of the new
sunglasses.
Classical, austere,
polarising: Sunglasses for men The
men's frames are convincing mainly due to the
contrasts between matt and shiny, the polarised lenses and an
interesting application of the logo, which will be very pleasing
to fans of true understatement. For example, there is a small
metal inlay with an integrated, engraved Rodenstock
"R" on the outside of the sides, which gives
the wide sides of models R 3243 and R 3244 a modern look. The
metal sunglasses R 1370 and R 1361 provide a new interpretation
of the popular pilot style with interesting mill-cutting on the
double-bridge and sides. In contrast, the sides of the classical
R 1369 metal sunglasses have a discrete design. The colours of
the sunglasses are absolutely timeless and simultaneously very
expressive, like a silver-crystal combination, gun with blue or
a deep burgundy combined with classic black.
