19.08.2010 Rodenstock Continues the Boris Becker Edition
Following the successful start at the opti 2010,
Rodenstock is now continuing the Boris Becker Edition with three
exclusive sunglasses. The most successful German tennis player
of all times – who has always worn stylish sunglasses himself –
accompanied their development as an advisor. The collection is
aimed at sporty men who have an affinity for fashion and who
value high-quality and simultaneously elegant
designs.
Two models in the pilot
style The Boris Becker Edition stands for
that which the tennis star has always epitomised on the court:
dynamics, quality and uniqueness. Two of the sunglasses are
orientated around the currently hot pilot style, refined,
however, with an individual flair. With the R 1354 frame, this
is seen in the high-quality plastic application in the middle of
the top bridge, which corresponds to the colour of the end
pieces on the sides. With the R 1355 model, this is expressed in
the decorative springy construction of the stainless steel frame
with a continuous top bridge. The use of material has been
intentionally reduced for both frames – ultimately the pilot
models stand for lightness and sportiness (R 1354, R
1355).
Understatement in the third
frame A sporty design also characterises the
third frame of the Boris Becker Edition. The timelessly simple R
3232 plastic sunglasses made of stable polyamide have smaller
lenses and wide sides. The Rodenstock “R” made of decorative
metal and worked into the sides harmonises with the high-quality
workmanship of the frame. As usual, Rodenstock once again uses a
very discrete logo here, completely in the style of the sporty
understatement of the frame (R
3232).
Boris Becker continues to
accompany the advertising campaign The
colours of the sunglasses are kept to masculine shades like
black and brown as well as summery variations like gold, silver
and grey. All three frames have the exclusive Boris Becker
Edition signet on the inside of the sides. The tennis legend
will be at the centre of the campaign as an advertising partner
for the expanded edition this summer as well.
