The simplest and most effective way of
cleaning your glasses is under flowing water with a few drops of
washing-up liquid. You should then rub them dry with a soft cotton
cloth. Your optician can supply microfibre cloths which are
suitable for cleaning your lenses outside the home.
If you use lens wipes to clean your lenses, make sure that
they still have enough moisture. And: to avoid smearing, you should
then also rub the lenses dry with a clean cloth. Stubborn marks such
as splashes of cooking fat can best be removed with commercial glass
cleaning agents - or in your optician's ultrasonic bath.
Some important recommendations
•
Never expose glasses with coated plastic lenses to
extreme sunlight at high temperatures (e.g. on the dashboard of a
car parked in the sun)
•
The safest place for your spectacles when you are not
wearing them is a hard case. This protects them against scratches,
bending or the sun.
•
Never put your glasses on a hard surface with the lenses
facing downwards.
•
Use an anti-fogging agent in winter so that your lenses
do not fog up when the temperature changes abruptly.
